About J26
Feeling and infrastructure.
Independent writing about electronic music culture, the people who build it and the rooms that give it meaning.
Why this journal exists
J26 begins with a simple belief: electronic music deserves writing that treats the feeling and the infrastructure with equal seriousness.
The culture is often described through peaks—the biggest room, the loudest drop, the fastest growth. Scenes are actually built in quieter places: the first hour of a half-full night, the borrowed speaker, the unfinished track sent to one trusted friend and the promoter choosing patience over hype.
J26 looks closely enough to hold progress and cost in the same frame. We follow the record and the room, the tool and the decision, the visible moment and the labour behind it.
Published independently
J26 Journal is published by J26 Productions Ltd in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Issue 001 was created under the direction of Mark Hampson with editorial and design by J26 Journal Studio.
Editorial principles
Editorial decisions begin with cultural value, not disguised advertising.
A scene is a network of memory, trust, argument and repeated presence.
Illustrative imagery, fictional devices and documentary sources are identified.
Culture depends on care, access, hospitality and invisible work.
Influence stays connected to people through permission and visible credit.
